DESCRIPTION

BC1 is not like the standard bass compressor pedal. Not by a longshot!

Most bass players use the compressor as an effect. Placed between the instrument and the amplifier. We like the idea of using a compressor as an always-on Master Compressor – at the end of the signal chain. A compressor that tames and gently shapes the overall dynamics, giving you a pristine bass tone that makes you sound better, sit better in the mix and simply makes playing more fun!

BC1 is a 100% analog Master Compressor that makes the output from your strings more even and brings out all of the small nuances in your playing. As far as we know, no other compressor pedals on the market are able to handle the signal level required to function as a Master Compressor. The compressor pedals we know of provide unbalanced instrument levels. When you use the Line In on BC1, you’re in the balanced line level domain.

In fact, think of it as a high-end rack compressor that you would use in the studio – but disguised as a pedal built for touring! That is (part of) what makes BC1 unique!

DETAILS

Balanced LINE IN is one of the things that sets BC1 apart from the rest of the compressor pedals out there. It is more like having a studio rack compressor than a stompbox comp at your disposal.

Therefore, you really get to benefit from coupling the BC1 with a BP1 or BP1 Compact, running all of your other pedals through the BP1 / BP1 Compact send/return loop, and then use a short XLR mic cable to connect the DI OUT of the preamp pedal to the Line In on BC1. This way, your Caveman pedals will keep your sound at its finest from beginning to end of your signal chain.

If you don’t use a preamp with a balanced DI out, you can of course use the Instrument input and patch in BC1 the traditional way. In fact, if you use it that way, you should still place it at the end of the signal chain, as BC1 has the same pristine, transformer-balanced DI Out as the BP1 pedals, which is what you want to send to the Front of House engineer

When compressing your entire sound, you compress much less. Therefore, you need a longer attack time than most comp pedals can provide in order to avoid killing the dynamics in your playing.

Caveman Audio wants the compressor to help you to sit better in the mix by making the output from each string more even. They don’t want it to kill your dynamic playing. BC1 offers up to 25ms before the compressor kicks in, which leaves the precious transients of your tone intact. Those transients are often referred to as ‘definition’, and you don’t want to lose that! That said, you can easily go below 25ms, and if you want to create a hard-pumping compressor effect, BC1 can take you all the way down to 0.1ms.

In fact, the extremely slow Attack time almost eliminates the need for Parallel Compression, but just in case, they have added that option as well. Simply set the PAR/SERIES switch on the rear panel to your preference.

Since Caveman Audio recommends placing the BC1 as the last pedal in your signal chain, using it as a master compressor, that very flexible range of Attack time will surely come in very handy.

A BOOST circuit is not common on compressor pedals, but then again, the BC1 is a different beast! Caveman Audio recommends using the BC1 as a master compressor at the end of your signal chain, which might have left you with problem...What about them bass solos? You’d probably kick in a boost pedal for that, but since the BC1 is sitting after a boost pedal, the signal coming into the BC1 would be hotter, and the BC1 would simply compress more.

That is why Caveman Audio has both LEVEL and BOOST knobs. Use LEVEL to set the overall output level, but if you set the BOOST knob a bit higher, it will give you a boost when you kick it in – but without changing the amount of compression!

If you prefer, you could also set the BOOST lower, which would simply mean that when you kick in the BOOST, the output level would decrease instead of getting louder.

Woww! it's great
Style: Steam Starter
don't normally write reviews but Ohh My! great performance! especially for the price. I can't afford to buy a wicked expensive professional high end steamer, so went for this. I did 4 rooms rinsing/hand washing the pad in between rooms. time consuming for first run but wanted to do it right as the directions instructed. tip.. take yr time with patience. a small area at a time, moving the mop slow, pumping the handle for good steam. as instructed go over the area numerous times (per directions 15 strokes), slowly. I broke it down to smaller patches of floor at a time. took a lot of breaks so I had patience. after the steam cleaning I mopped all the floors with my swiffer (reusable cloth pad) n pine sol to test how dirty the swiffer pad got as opposed to normally. huge difference! barely dirty swiffer pad, indicating the steam mop did the job. tested out barefoot & my floors feel soo smoothe n clean! also my house is high traffic from people and PETS. even with cleaning regularly the mop pad got verry dirty, i know it took a lot of dirt off the floors that normal cleaning just dont achieve. made a HUGE differences to crevices & edges where grime builds up. note: over time the floors will get even cleaner, can't expect perfection one round with built up dirt that hasn't been thoroughly cleaned by normal mopping. as time goes by can probably lighten up with the time spent & the repetitions. is plastic but thats a great thing, is light making it very easy to keep going! Just be careful not to bang it up or toss it around. reaches under furniture items great! manuevers with ease in all directions. wish the water reservoir was bigger had to refill several times, however as I said I took my time going over all areas numerous times, pumping out lots of steam. I will probably thoroughly steam mop the floors periodically, in between do normal mopping. have a new ceramic tile bathroom floor that per the instructions, I did not use the steam mop. if it's not coated or sealed it can discolor the ceramic. read all the directions. the cord is frustrating, in the way. i hold it up as i mop but for the price and performance i can deal with that. don't hesitate my house feels so clean n sanitized!

Good steamer and brand name.
Style: Steam Starter
I gave 4 stars as Shark Steamer mop S1000 is a good product. My last one was the purple steam mop and lasted 15 years. It was used at least once a week on all floors and for mess. It has the power steam and wipe the dirt away. Fast and easy. I have sealed hard wood floors, lots of tile, have always had two large dogs and one messy spouse who seams to drop everything on the kitchen floor, and brings in mud. (The dogs are cleaner). Needless to say, it gets good use. Fill the tank, wait as instructions say 2-3 minutes, you will hear the steam and it ready. I like the washable pads and ordered six extra to have them on had. The last was you had to fill the tank, not removable. This new one has a removable tank which I like the idea. Easy to dump out any water remain to let dry. However, maybe because it’s new, I find the tank is a bit hard to remove, the instructions say to pull up and out. You have to just pull out. The button under the tank on the machine its self does push in to allow the tank to snap back into place, but to remove it takes a little figure power to pull out. It needs a tank release button to make easier for arthritis hands. But I am still sticking with this machine and brand, hope it does me just as well as the last one.

A good beginning Steam Mop for the price
Style: Steam Starter
I have been curious about Steam Mops for awhile now and thought for the price - why not? Pros: Price and general quality of product; simplicity of the "mechanics" of a steam mop, and watching the steam actually come out of the body of the mop into the pad; I've cleaned a few pretty dirty surfaces; but no tile grout areas like some of the impressive videos; generally I suppose I have a sense that I am REALLY cleaning something cause there's steam! Maybe it's just a mind thing you know the power of suggestion. Cons: cord could be longer; and the element that you fill with water is a little sticky to actually remove; it's almost as if you feel like your going to break something by having to 'force' the water bottle away from the mop; every time I do this - I still feel I may break it. Also; the pad to clean the floor with is large with most of the steam actually exiting right in the middle - so I have found myself using a basic "floor cleaner" from a squeeze bottle in order to actually feel like I am getting my floors extra clean. I don't put anything other than water in the water-bottle for the mop - without the use of anything else; the floors do appear cleaned - and evidenced by the dirt on the pad. I might suggest purchasing a few extra pads so you can keep them clean. I toss mine in the wash - seems to work. Conclusion: I would recommend this model mostly for those who just want to give the ole' steam mop craze a try; you can't beat the price for a basic-simple model. I may upgrade one day but for now - this works fine.

Simple and effective.
Style: Steam Starter
I'm glad I purchased this model. I previously had a more complex model with the detachable steamer. Eventually the steamer would no longer attach to the handle, the mechanism wore out. This one is super simple. Put water in. Push down to make steam. It gives off plenty of steam. I'm confident that my floors are getting clean and there are no frills to get in the way of productivity. I will be purchasing more pads, as others have recommended.

Buy it and you’ll be happy that you did!
Style: Steam Starter
I bought this for my fifth wheel trailer and it is wonderful! I love how easy it is to use on floors. It saves me time as it dries quickly. I actually mix some floor cleaner in with the water and it leaves a nice clean smell. I can plug it in to one outlet and do the bathroom as well as the living room floors because it has a nice length to the cord. It has no leaks and is the perfect size to fit in my front closet. Best steam mop by far!
